Fall is officially here! You may be tempted to pack away those summer threads… hold on! See how you can build a bridge from summer to fall fashion.

There's all these funny fashion rules that go into effect once Labor Day rolls around:
No more open toed shoes until spring. Even if you're going on a tropical vacation or live in the desert!
You can't wear white until spring. Even if you're getting married. Sorry, should have thought about that before you chose the date!
Florals are just for summer. Clearly, flowers don’t bloom after temperatures cool down.
You can see how limiting these rules can be.
What do they say about rules?
Learn them so you can break them.
September 23 is the first day of fall! The fashion industry is banking on you wanting to buy a whole new wardrobe. But before you hit the stores, let's shop your closet first.
Sustainability in style is something that I stand by. The environmental resources used in the fabrication of a simple cotton t-shirt are staggering.
...it takes about 2,700 liters of water to make just one t-shirt , which is enough water for one person to drink for 900 days. And, let's not forget the wear and tear on the t-shirt once purchased.
The point of sharing this metric isn't to shame you into wearing burlap sack dresses (unless that's your thing). It's to create awareness so we can consume consciously.
So let's look at ways that you can build a bridge between your summer and fall style without breaking the bank.
It comes down to three styling strategies:
What you wear under it
What you wear over it
How you accessorize it
It's not just what you wear but how you wear it.
Let's look at a maxi skirt, and how to take this versatile piece from summer to fall.
Styled for summer with a linen tank top and sandals.
Styled for fall with a turtleneck sweater, boots and booties.
Here are three tips to try to make your outfit instantly more fall!
Add a hat. Time to retire your straw summer hats for a darker fedora.
Swap your shoes. Instead of sandals, try clogs or booties.
Start to layer. With cool mornings and evenings, a light jacket, cardigan or duster will help you stay warm.
