We have Kasia Urbaniak to thank for this one! If you want to keep pulling that thread, create a Book of Desires. It might take a little time to separate the chaff from the wheat, but I've seen it first hand how the good stuff rises once the mundane is out of the way.
It's amazing how we can tune out the basic primal elements of our existence, the spark of what attracts us, wants and desires quickly overridden by what's supposed to be, what we think someone else will want, or even what we think we want.
I love this exercise because it cuts through all of that. I was surprised at how challenging it was to think of making a list like this - and that told me a lot.
John, I honor how deeply this resonated with you. You are so right -- it's uncanny how we are able to tune out and override our fundamental desires.
I've been sitting with desire a lot this week. Often times it seems to show up as a little inkling: something enters the field that is difficult to name or put your finger on... and unless we're paying attention, it could just get swept under the rug from not being loud enough.
A follow up exercise would be to create a Book of Desires. It might start simply: I desire to wake up without an alarm. I want someone else to clear the leaves from the driveway. And then this may give way to more -- deeper and profound.
I wanna play -If I were a bad girl, I would...
..burn it all down and send everyone the matches
Welcome, George! I love that you are playing along.
Oof. Yaaas. The shadow loves fire.
