Sex and Style is written by Certified Sexologist and Somatic Sex Coach Sarah Ward. This is intended as general advice. If you’d like a personalized guidance, I’d be honored to connect with you in a discovery session.

With LA on fire and on the heels of a scary health diagnosis in my family, this week has felt hazy and disorienting. I’m holding space for my feels, taking time to feel, and provide an avenue out—some way for them to leave my body. I hope you do the same.

If you feel a call back to your body and aren’t sure how to reconnect or what to do with your feelings besides numb out, here is some medicine for you:

How to reconnect to your body when the world is coming undone.

How to reconnect to your body when the world is coming undone.

What if this year, your sex life became your greatest adventure?

This could be the year that you gave yourself permission to unlock untapped desires, savor toe-curling pleasure, and transform your sex life into the most thrilling expression of who you are.

Esther Perel says, “Show me how you love, and I’ll tell you who you are.” Sex is the ultimate form of self-expression—it’s where you can unabashedly be yourself and fully embody what that means.

There is no end to what we’re capable of experiencing when it comes to pleasure. The sky's the limit! Particularly if you’re an Erotic Blueprint™ Energetic or Kinky type, the possibilities are endless!

If things in the bedroom have felt a little stale lately, maybe you’re experiencing a crisis of imagination. What if you gave yourself permission to own the desires that have been planted inside of you?

Sometimes it’s as simple as saying your desire aloud. What if that’s all it took for the first domino to fall in your favor?

We all have unspoken desires locked in our hearts. Sex has been taboo for so long that we so often keep these desires under wraps, afraid of what will happen if we let Pandora out of the box. Unfortunately we run the risk that without investigating these desires, they have the potential to come out sideways: through addiction, compulsive behavior, affairs…

Since we all grew up in a culture that isn’t always sex-positive, it’s likely that you and your partner(s) have some limiting beliefs to shed. This type of residue may be holding you back from experiencing the sex you dream of.

So, consider this your invitation to let your desire lead. See if you can turn up your turn-on and be dripping with anticipation for the experiences you want to create this year.

To support you in this, I created The Pleasure Manifesto.

A 32-page step-by-step interactive guide, it’s filled with thought-provoking questions about desire, paired with embodiment prompts and affirming intentions. You can work through it with your partner(s), or solo.

To give you a taste, here’s the questions and intentions from Chapter 2: Cultivating Connection. To help kickstart your imagination, each question includes examples to inspire you and whet your appetite.

Cultivating Connection

  1. How can you feel more emotional connection with your partner this year?
(Example: practice eye-gazing before sex, share one thing you admire about each other daily.)

  2. What is one new communication skill, verbal or non-verbal, you will practice to enhance intimacy?
(Example: learning to confidently ask for what you want, holding eye contact, vulnerably sharing feelings.)

  3. What is a sexy ritual you can begin to help you get in the mood for sex?
(Example: journaling your feelings, having a sensual dance party before a date.)

  4. How will you be more present to your physical sensations in the bedroom?
(Example: focus on your breath, take a mindfulness class.)

Intentions for Connection:

  • I honor the vulnerability that deepens intimacy.

  • I speak my desires with confidence and clarity.

  • I create space for emotional connection to flourish.

There are 12 different chapters and 20+ prompts to help clarify your erotic vision this year.
